President calls for utilizing research-based technology to increase agriculture produce

President Dr. Arif Alvi has stressed on the need to utilize modern research-based technology to increase agriculture produce. 

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of National Centres of Precision Agriculture and Industrial Biotechnology at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University in Rawalpindi on Friday, he said that Pakistan needs population planning to meet growing challenges of the world.

The President said there will be abundance in alternate renewable energy, education, medicines and agriculture sectors in the days to come and we have to transform ourselves to fully utilize this abundance for better and bright future of the country.

He urged the scientists and agriculture experts to take advantage from the latest technology for uplift of agriculture sector to meet demands of the country.

Earlier in his address, Vice Chancellor of the University, Qamar Uz Zaman highlighted the importance of agriculture in uplifting the economy. He said Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University is striving for modernize agricultural practices.

The Vice Chancellor said the University has designed its curriculum as per the needs of industry and agriculture. He said University has also implemented international standards to uplift the quality of education.

Former Minister for Agriculture Punjab, Hussain Jahania Gardezi in his remarks said that human resource development and use of advance technology in agriculture are the way forward.

Upon his arrival, the President visited different stalls showcasing products and tools related to bio-technology and agriculture.
